Hospitals generating large volumes of sharps, pathological, chemo, and biohazardous waste need scheduled, high-capacity pickup programs with complete documentation for Joint Commission and FDOH compliance.
Hospital pharmacies, nursing floors, and operating rooms generate controlled substances, RCRA hazardous pharmaceuticals, and bulk medication waste requiring DEA-authorized destruction and RCRA compliance.
Hospital medical records, billing data, and employee records require HIPAA-compliant destruction. Exodus provides on-site and off-site shredding with Chain of Custody documentation for hospital-wide programs.
Exodus scales to hospital volumes — daily, multi-day, or large-container pickup programs for emergency departments, ORs, and inpatient units.
Documentation, container labeling, and disposal records aligned with The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards.
One account manager coordinates waste pickups across pharmacy, OR, nursing floors, lab, and administration — no interoperability gaps.
DEA-authorized pharmaceutical destruction with completed DEA 222 forms and Certificate of Destruction for controlled substance disposal.
Acute care hospitals require multi-stream waste programs covering biomedical, pharmaceutical, hazardous chemical, and confidential document destruction.
Emergency departments generate sharps, blood-contaminated materials, and pharmaceutical waste at high volumes — requiring frequent, reliable scheduled pickups.
ORs generate surgical tissue, chemo waste, sharps, and RCRA hazardous chemicals from anesthesia and sterilization — all requiring licensed disposal.
Inpatient and outpatient pharmacy departments generate expired medications, chemotherapy drug waste, and controlled substances needing DEA-licensed destruction.
Clinical and pathology labs generate sharps, cultures, blood products, and chemical reagent waste requiring both biomedical and hazardous waste management.
LTAC facilities generate ongoing sharps, pharmaceutical, and biomedical waste requiring the same licensed management as acute-care hospitals.

Hospitals generating more than 2,200 lbs of RCRA hazardous waste per month are classified as LQGs. LQGs must remove hazardous waste within 90 days, maintain trained personnel, have a contingency plan, and submit biennial reports to EPA. Exodus provides LQG-compliant waste management with all required documentation.
The Joint Commission's Environment of Care (EC) standards require hospitals to properly identify, segregate, label, and dispose of all categories of waste including infectious, chemotherapy, pharmaceutical, and hazardous waste. Exodus provides documentation supporting EC.02.02.01 compliance.
No. Chemotherapy (antineoplastic) waste must be segregated from regular biomedical waste. RCRA-listed chemo drugs are P-listed hazardous waste requiring incineration at a licensed TSDF. Bulk chemo waste (IV bags, gloves, drapes) is treated as trace-contaminated chemo waste with different disposal requirements.
Hospital pharmacies must use DEA Form 222 for Schedule I/II controlled substance transfers and must use a DEA-authorized reverse distributor for destruction. DEA Form 41 is used for on-site destruction. Exodus is DEA-authorized and provides complete Form 41 and destruction documentation.
Sharps containers should be exchanged when ¾ full — never overfilled. For high-volume hospital units, this may be daily or several times per week. Exodus provides container exchange programs sized to your unit volumes so containers are never a compliance risk.
Tell us about your facility and waste streams. Exodus will design a compliant, cost-effective disposal program — covering medical waste, pharmaceutical waste, chemical waste, and document shredding.
